Summary

A SECRET BEACH。
A HOLIDAY OF A LIFETIME。
WISH YOU WERE HERE?

THINK AGAIN…

You wake on a beautiful, remote island。

Sparkling blue seas, golden sunsets, barely a footprint in the sand。

Yet this is no ordinary escape。

Next to the wreck of a plane, a stranger paces。 Another sharpens a knife, scoring a list of the dead onto a palm tree。 Others watch from the shadows of a campfire – all with untold stories, and closely-guarded secrets…

This is no ordinary holiday。
This is no ordinary island。
This is no ordinary beach read。

Gripping, twisty and full of sun-soaked atmosphere, THE CASTAWAYS will whisk you far away to the island – and never let you go。

Desert Island page turnerI read this book in 24 hours, couldn’t put it down。 A tale of two sisters and a race against time to survive and find out the truth。 The chapters switch from the past to present and the story unfolds, revealing what happened。 You won’t want to put it down until you find out。 Perfect summer beach read but wouldn’t recommend reading it at the airport before you take off!

Told from the viewpoint of 2 sisters The Castaways is a thriller about a plane which disappears, one of the sisters is on the plane so you get a then and now narrative。 I found the sisters relationship a bit too much and feel it might have been punched if it was shorter。 Found the ending unbelievable, I can't imagine it happens Told from the viewpoint of 2 sisters The Castaways is a thriller about a plane which disappears, one of the sisters is on the plane so you get a then and now narrative。 I found the sisters relationship a bit too much and feel it might have been punched if it was shorter。 Found the ending unbelievable, I can't imagine it happens 。。。more

This book was average (around 3 stars) until the ending, where it takes a nose dive off a cliff。 None of the characters are particularly likeable, I didn’t root for anyone or any particular outcome。 I did not feel attached to this book at all。Good chapter lengths, but would have cut the book down by 100 pages and picked up the pace instead。

I thought this would be a bit like an Agatha Christie mystery but it was so much more。 It kept me gripped from page one and never let go。 I had to know what happened on the island。 Told in the present tense by Lori's sister and the past by Lori it was interesting to say the least 。 I really enjoyed it。 I thought this would be a bit like an Agatha Christie mystery but it was so much more。 It kept me gripped from page one and never let go。 I had to know what happened on the island。 Told in the present tense by Lori's sister and the past by Lori it was interesting to say the least 。 I really enjoyed it。 。。。more

Some books you pick up, read a few chapters and put it down, then others you just want to devour and this is one of them。 I was totally enthralled by both the main characters, the setting and the storyline。 I had to take pauses as I was reading outside on and off but my god that plot was just bouncing around my mind every time I put it down。 I couldn’t rest until I knew what was happening。 In the end I read the whole book in a over a couple of days due to life getting in my way and had I not had Some books you pick up, read a few chapters and put it down, then others you just want to devour and this is one of them。 I was totally enthralled by both the main characters, the setting and the storyline。 I had to take pauses as I was reading outside on and off but my god that plot was just bouncing around my mind every time I put it down。 I couldn’t rest until I knew what was happening。 In the end I read the whole book in a over a couple of days due to life getting in my way and had I not had a 7 year old to occupy this would have been a book in a day read! Everything about this book wowed me。 The complex dual timeline that ricocheted back and forth over a two year span。 The characters all with their own story and the fabulous plot! It was beautifully written, crammed full of twists and characters were complex。 If you are in a reading slump I can pretty much guarantee this will pull you out of it! 。。。more

Exceptional! Best book I’ve read all year ! A true page Turner - a book that keeps u up as you want to know the answers!

Dave

Was a little hard to swallow the contrivances and some of the plot holes。

Finished in 2 days so it definitely had something to it。 I loved Last Seen, then didn’t like Let Me In。 This book was somewhere in between。 Liked it, didn’t love it, but there was something that made me keep turning the pages。 Could’ve done with less lamenting about sisterhood。

Ann

I didn’t really like this book very much, The only person in the story that I liked was felix, so many unhappy people, however it keeps u guessing to the end, so I guess that’s a positive

Anne

A real page turner - the story of two sisters - twists and turns towards the end as Lori's story comes to a conclusion。 Good job I read this when flying was not an option! This may end up being the book of the month for me as I just devoured it and for that reason I gave it a 5-star rating! 。。。more

A very addictive book。 It keeps you turning the pages and constantly wanting to know more。 Each chapter is left on a cliffhanger and it alternates between then and now from both sisters points of view。 Loved it

I enjoyed this, it was an easy enough read with lovely settings and a good bit of escapism。 My main criticism is that for a lot of the book, it’s just drifting along。 Not a lot happens until the final few chapters。 That said, I did like the end and thought it fitted well。I’ve read a number of books by this author and found them all to be much like that, but would happily read more by her。

Very gripping for sure , it was just a bit dragging on long but overall very exciting

I'd say 3。5 probably。 It was good。 I've read all of Lucy Clarke's books and this had bits that reminded me of Swimming at Night and The Blue。If this is your first Lucy Clarke book then you'll love it。 I still enjoyed it。 I've been around the block though so I notice these things。 I'll still pick up her next book though and see how it goes。 I'd say 3。5 probably。 It was good。 I've read all of Lucy Clarke's books and this had bits that reminded me of Swimming at Night and The Blue。If this is your first Lucy Clarke book then you'll love it。 I still enjoyed it。 I've been around the block though so I notice these things。 I'll still pick up her next book though and see how it goes。 。。。more

Heard a lot about this book and saw a lot of reviews about it so added it to my to be read list, a new author for me too。The Castaways introduces us to Erin and Lori, two sisters that are flying to a remote island in Fiji for a relaxing holiday。 Following an argument on the night before they fly to the island Lori ends up on the flight alone, a flight that never reaches its final destination。 As the book synopsis reads: ‘This is no ordinary holiday。 This is no ordinary island。 This is no ordinar Heard a lot about this book and saw a lot of reviews about it so added it to my to be read list, a new author for me too。The Castaways introduces us to Erin and Lori, two sisters that are flying to a remote island in Fiji for a relaxing holiday。 Following an argument on the night before they fly to the island Lori ends up on the flight alone, a flight that never reaches its final destination。 As the book synopsis reads: ‘This is no ordinary holiday。 This is no ordinary island。 This is no ordinary beach read。’Following on from author recommendations from T M Logan, Erin Kelly and C L Taylor (amongst many others!!)
